Morning Light Color Pencil by doug633 Morning Light Color Pencil by doug633
*note* I have resubmitted this with a photo I took of it under daylight rather than under night time incandescent light. Much truer color to original work.

Well Here is the first portrait I've done in a while.
10"x15" Berol Prismacolor colored pencil on 80lb Strathmore paper

Loved this photo by Mokanaka :iconmokanaka:
(Original photo [link]) so I decided to draw it.
Not too pleased with the final. I got off track somewhere and never recovered. I feel I got a little lazy with the precision and rushed too much to get it done. My next portrait I vow to be more patient.

Wow, this is very impressive. That's what I aim for, trying to capture 'true to life' colours', trying to get the right balance of the light greys of the highlights with the browns of shadows. You blended the sharp shadows so well with the gradual lighting.
Great job :)

Wonderful portrait! I don't see enough portraits in coloured pencil that are decent these days.

Amazing! You really got some depth in here, something I find very hard to do!

Thank you very much!}

but judging by your gallery I don't think you have all that much trouble with shading.

Aww thanks  But I still think I can learn from your drawing, especially when it comes to coloured drawings!

Really nice, subtle hues in her face and eyes. I'm really impressed that it's colored pencil, almost looks like acrylic paint!

Thanks!]

that's kind of how I treat my color pencil pieces.(like paint)after I get most of the paper covered its almost like the wax in the pencils lets me push colors around. I dunno it's the technique I taught my self I guess.
